Our His-tory: Did you know?

Mary McLeod Bethune was an African American teacher, was one of the great educators in United States history. Besides being a leader of women, an adviser to several American presidents, and a powerful champion of equality among races all during an era of extreme racism and sexism. She started the Bethune School for Girls which merged with Cookman Institute of Jacksonville, Florida now called Bethune Cookman College.
