  • "Even to this day, it's still good quality".

If that's the case then why didn't Laserdisc stay around? And if the picture quality is in your words better than DVD and even Blu Ray (which I highly doubt) then the technology wouldn't have been replaced by DVD and later Blu Ray.

  • @NitroTab1 Because its a perfect analog transfer of an unmolested print, the Bluray format is miles better but the transfer is not

  • The Thing is one of my fav horror films, the laser disc looks so cool !

Interesting that the best quality is still laserdisc.

  • Its hte best quality in that it has not been messed with

  • Did you know that the word criterion is actually gree??Originaly spelled as κριτηριο...

  • I know it means region coded blu-rays, so they can go away lol

  • IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES HORROR MOVIE I HAVE BOTH FORMAT LASERDISC & BLU RAY AND BLU RAY KICK ASS TO DVD OR LASERDISC

  • very nice collection

  • The Blu-Ray edition of The Thing has a remastered DTS-HD MA-track which is a big step over the Dolby Digital-track that was on the Dvd. However, the picture quality on the Blu-Ray edition isn't as good as the HD-DVD but I prefer the LD.

  • nice beer money shirt

  • Awesome!

  • There is also a missing audio commentary track on the Bluray where Kurt Russell makes a comment about Keith David stealing a motorcar in New York City on chapter 20

  • Comparing the image with the region 2 DVD where the image is slightly on the dark side over the bluray its still the same version! Even the soundtrack has the same minor technical issue on right front with tiny amount of dialogue filtering on it! Same as the! Its the same master digital tape only at higher resolution!
