Note: I have since been told that Tinikling is no longer the national dance of the Philippines, and that it is Carinosa instead. Unfortunately, not many Filipino-Americans know this, which is why at the time of this filming, it was still assumed that Tinikling is the national dance.
This was my final project for Intro to Video Editing. I made a short documentary on tinikling, a popular Philipine folk dance. The time limit was 2 mins, but I pushed it to 2:25. There was so much more I wanted to put in there, but this was the best I could do given the time restraints.
nice. ;)

tinikling is such a good way to lose weight. i did it one summer(rehearsed for a couple of months) for a cultural show here in houston, tx. and i lost a lot of weight that summer.

Probably if I don't know the inside story behind Olongapo City, I won't have a problem with Carinosa, but since I know I have a problem with it. Think about it what do most women do in OLongapo City do sa mga banyaga?

Good to keep the heritage alive! I'am half Ilocano half German born and raised in the US. My children and grandchildren enjoy the dances and music, although we don't understand the language it is gateway to my fathers land.

I finally learned how to do this dance(at age 37) at a workshop in Toronto, Canada. It is NOT easy but it is a cool thing to have in the knowledge bank.

when i was in gradeschool, the national dance is already carinosa
but i think tinikling more than the carinosa because it'is more popular than the carinosa and it's fun to watch!
