A look into the world of homelessness in Houston, Texas

Filmed primary in Downtown, Houston, TX, Beneath the Bridges: Homeless in Houston is a documentary film that explores homelessness from the perspective of homeless individuals, philanthropic individuals and institutions, and Houston community members. The film seeks to present both common perceptions of the homeless and the reality of life on the streets. To better explore this idea, the director presents several "common" aspects of homelessness: Panhandling, Philanthropists (or those individuals who help the homeless on a regular basis), Parks, Shelters, and Mental Illness.

We begin with a series of interviews with members of the homeless community and with Houston's "non-homeless" community, and are soon introduced to and number of common causes for homelessness, as well as several common conceptions of the homeless.

  • the common misinterpretation of homeless people is that were dirty, or strung out on drugs etc, when in all actuality homelessness can happen to anyone, most people work minimum wage jobs, if you get fired or terminated, that leave you like one 350.00 check to pay like 1200.00 worth of monthly bills, so yea thats not gonna happen, and before u know it your lease is up and your on your ass.

so think twice before u make a scene of someone on the streets.

  • dude, keep on trying, dont give up. me and my wife have been down this road. and are still going down it.

  • @rockyeuenguino , I have a good friend now living under a bridge , his brother Kurt from a band DRI is the enforcer . He was doing good seeking help but now caught up in the addiction like never before and refuses help , like he is mad at his own actions .

We need more realistic treatment not flop houses possed as treatment and detox centers . It takes time for a mind to heal .
