Dr. Robert Hoover, director of NCI's Epidemiology and Biostatistics Program, discusses a new study of diethylstilbestrol (DES), a drug once prescribed to pregnant women. Dr. Hoover describes the history behind DES and the long-term health effects that are now known to be associated with prenatal exposure to the drug. A written article about the study appears in the NCI Cancer Bulletin: http://www.cancer.gov/ncicancerbulletin/101811/page5?cid=YTncigov

  • Well done for getting this video out. It is so important that the message is shared.

  • Do you know how many, 'specialists' I have educated. No medical degree, just a life long, 17 surgeries later, history of the teratogenic effects of DES. I educated myself, to first calm my fears. Then to be able to get the right prognosis. You have to educate every single person you come in contact with to get the correct pathology report for a mere PAP Test. If it is sent out, and not labeled with ' DES exposure in vitro' or such...the nightmare begins.

  • So interesting! Important to get the word out about research and findings

  • The relationship between hormones and cancer is something I had not considered. Dr. Hoover's story is very interesting. I am going to share this informational video with my colleagues and friends. Thank you.

  • Great work! :)
