Download a WORKING Super Mario world or Super Mario All stars + world rom.
Most roms had to be edited with hex editing, which was confusing, but there is software called "Lunar magic" that allows you to design and edit the game in a "WYSIWYG" fassion.
You then download an emulator to play / test your edited game.
