WPI Press Centre - Interview with Hamid Taqvee on today's events and demonstrations in Iran in defiance of the leader of the Islamic Regime. Also WPI responds to David Milliband's comment on resolvng ithe Nuclear issue in Iran.
The Iranian freedom fighters are a beacon of hope to people around the world. When U.S. President Bush was steadily taking away civil rights and stomping on the Constitution, where were the people taking to the streets to protest en masse? Where? No where. Everybody just complained privately. It is extremely exhilarating when the people finally decide they've had enough and begin demanding freedom reforms.
I hope the Iranian people maintain their courage and depose the Supreme Leader.
Thanks for your analysis, comrades. I agree that the West's caution stems from their own pragmatic considerations: get a more malleable leader in charge, but don't destabilize Iran, and the West's regional powerbases, by supporting a genuine democratic - let alone socialist - revolution.
Is the Iranian workers' movement organizing? To what extent do you think this could become a pre-revolutionary situation?
