Relapse. No matter where you are along the Journey, you are sure to have either already experienced setbacks along the Path to Healing or likely will in the future. How does one deal with such an event? I have offered some insight regarding this issue. Most prominent is the fact that perspective shifts depending on which side of Ana's Thin Red Line ( the line between overt ED pathology and perfect health ): The other side feels like a surreal, dreamlike distant memory; not a real experience. This duality is a challenge for us. It is easy to say what will help when in a relapse, but the psyche is so different in that state than it is when you are walking the Journey in Optimal Wellness.
One thing that keeps me well: MY PUG! Therapy animals FTW! Ai-Li keeps me connected. Having an animal companion can help facilitate being alerted to regression into pathology much sooner than. Several ED treatment centers offer equine therapy for this reason, and in the Nederlands, puppies have been used to help ED patients with good success.
Question of the week: What would be your dream vacation?
I'm sorry this one s so long! I will make a shorter version with key points.
