Chant group Psallentes consists of six professional singers, presenting a vivid performance of fifteenth century chant. Here you can listen to the antiphon 'Verax est pater' while watching the same in the original manuscript (B-Gu 15/1: an antiphoner from the Abbey of Bavo in Ghent, 1481). This is from the cd 'Etienne de Liège - In festo sanctissimae Trinitatis' RIC 249.
Chant group Psallentes was founded by Hendrik Vanden Abeele in 2000, with the aim to explore the performance practice and the repertoire of late medieval plainsong.

The 'Verax est Pater' was (probably) written by bishop Etienne de (Stephen of) Liège in de eleventh century. This version is Psallentes' interpretation, singing from a fifteenth-century antiphoner containing the different chants Etienne made for the office of the Holy Trinity.
