  • No, he's not the last on Earth. He's a member of a thriving population on the island of Santa Cruz. In fact, the Charles Darwin Research Station is breeding many tortoises to be released in the wild, and has done so successfully for years. Perhaps you were thinking of Lonesome George, the last of his subspecies. This is not Lonesome George.
