Here's a simple water marble tutorial.
I haven't done one of these in forever. It was fun.

Materials used:
plastic container (old measuring cup)
Room temperature tap water.

OPI - Natural Nail Base Coat
Orly - Orly Platinum
Color Club - Almost Famous
Color Club - Puccilicious
Color Club - Poptastic
Essie - Good To Go

Qtips
Nail polish remover (for cleanup) Onyx brand - from Walmart
small dotting tool - from ebay.
Orange wood stick - from Sallys Beauty Supply

TIP:
for easier removal of the excess nail polish that's on your finger, prep your finger with vaseline or petroleum jelly or cuticle oil. Or you can also use tape around your nail to prevent the polish from getting on your finger.

  • I tried this but my polish dried when it got to the water, making it so it wouldn't spread. Also my colors kept mixing. Do you have any suggestions for me??

  • @BritzFin for both issues you may simply have to try using different polishes. not all brands or even individual polishes work well with water marbling. make sure you use one that's Not fast drying.

  • will it still work if you do not use a base-coat? please answer i would like to know! (btw love your nails)

  • @Alexcutspie do you mean base coat or the base colour? The answer is Yes for both. but if you don't use the base colour it will turn out looking different because the white background helps the water marbled colours be more vibrant. :)

  • Soo hard to do

  • @g4bz99 it definitely takes practice and trial and error with the different nail polishes. but once you get it, you're good to go :D

  • Cool

  • @Miss80Million thx for telling me i'll try it :)))))))))))

  • @jokk12ify you can definitely do more than one nail at a time. (I usually do 2 or 3 at once. but for tutorial purposes I only did one in the video. :)

  • @galinatsygankova I don't like to do that because it's a waste of tape. An alternative is to apply cuticle oil where the tape would be. So when you pull your finger out of the water you can simply wipe the polish off your finger and it slides off easily because of the oil. (I don't remember if I actually did that in this tutorial or not. )
