There are some gold coins and bars that we buy and melt, rather than try to resell them. Here are some examples. These items will be seeing the refiner's furnace soon.

  • The mexican coin and Swiss bar should not be melted..you will always get more than spot value for them....the comemorative ones melt away!

I KNOW BUT I NEEDED THE FIAT DOLLARS TO OPEN THE NEXT DAY...

DON'T HAVE THE POWER OF A PRINTING PRESS.

  • In your business it's better to make a little on a lot of trades & deals that a lot on 1 or 2. People come to you daily out of the blue & you need cash flow to buy & move. Good lasting business is also WIFM (whats in-it form me). That is why you can deal direct with the melter , as you bring regular bulk, saving him dealing with lots of nit-picking. Then as your build a large satisfied client base you attract more flow. A good deal for all = regular flow.

  • @SilverLadyBug999

THAT'S EXACTLY WHY I MELT 98% OF ALL GOLD JEWELRY TOO.

MUCH OF WHICH SOLD FOR 10x MORE IN A JEWELRY STORE.

I CAN SELL IT TO THE REFINER WITH NO SECURITY PROBLEMS AND NO NITPICKERS.

BTY ITS ONLY BULLION COINS AND NOT SAINTS, LIBERTIES INDIANS ECT.

IT AGAIN IS ALL ABOUT CASH-FLOW.

  • I don't agree Greg. Coins have an established standard to them that allows people to know what they really got. Also, gold coins have numismatic value to them that will stop govt. confiscation & give the owner safety in keeping them. However, I will concede from the scraper point of view, there is very little value in resale. You have already paid a premium to buy the coins & still have to make a profit at the melter. The only senario for resale is rising gold prices & safety minded buyers.

NO PROBLEM - WE WILL ALL NEVER AGREE 100%.

EXCECT WHEN IT COMES TO THE ECONOMY AND THEN THERE ARE THOSE WHO LOVE OBAMA AND THE JOB HES DOING.

AGAIN: WHEN I MELT GOLD COINS ITS ONLY BULLION COINS AND NOT SAINTS, LIBERTIES INDIANS ECT.

ALSO THEY PAY 100% OF SPOT IF ITS AGE OR KRUGERRANDS.

  • I collect stamps, I esp like the rare, expensive ones with a blue color. I set them ablaze, the older they are, the more energy they give. Blue ones are better than brown or red ones, weirdo...

  • @ScrapGoldBusiness Ok friend.

  • take the gold and melt it in my pocket !!! lol

  • @endlessmountain

I AM MORE OF A BUYER THAN SELLER. LOCAL BUYERS DONT HAVE THE MONEY AND MOST THAT DO WANT TO PAY LESS THAN SPOT. UNFORTUNATLY, I DONT HAVE THE PATIENCE.
