Shogun 2: Total War - Announcement trailer

Return to Japan, with the long awaited sequel to the very first Total War game by Creative Assembly.

"It is the middle of the 16th Century in Feudal Japan. The country, once ruled by a unified government, is now split into many warring clans. Players take on the role of one Daimyo, the clan leader, and will use military engagements, economics and diplomacy to achieve the ultimate goal, re-unite Japan under his supreme command and become the new Shogun -- the undisputed ruler of a pacified nation."

Whatever happens , yes its a great idea but please please please dont mess up the BAI and CAI . Theres nothing worse than having an excellent game foundation but screwing up the mechanics like diplomacy and such. Hopefully the lesson is learned from empire but then again I learned my lesson so i wont be buying this from CA unless I hear good things in reviews and more importantly player reviews because the players cant be bought out.

I completely agree.

It's just stupid that AI development gets so little attention in a STRATEGY game.

And the idea of using online multiplayer to substitute AI with human players (like in Napoleon:TW) isn't very good. Human players often don't act like historic generals and instead exploit game mechanics. Throws you out of the experience completely.

I won't buy S2:tw unless the AI works!!!

@BATTERIESc Well said. I don't buy ANY game until I've heard player reviews. I learned my lesson after pre-ordering the shit sandwich that was Fable 2.

I'm expecting something more about Total War Game. I think they should take a whole "East Asian" to be "New Total War Story". Chinese classic history can possibly be the interesting new game with a lot of factions included or focus on new civilization rather than improve graphic and style on the older one. But, I appreciate that they look back to the East civilization, at the least. I love all their games though.

@Molo9000 I always wanted to be in politics, im in high-school right now and trying to get into it. The total war serious makes me feel what it was almost like to be a king or shogun in this case :P ( not 100%). the thing that will do it if the AI was Brilliant, not only on the battlefield, but also in diplomacy. If that happens, goodbye to my life T . T

@Molo9000 - Sounds like you've bad experiences online. It's ok because it happens. But that doesn't ruin the challenge for me. I'd much rather play against live players than dumb AI any day.
