Samango is a rhythm sometimes used for solos during shows. It's similar to Iuna in that it employs the same soft touch of the pedra to the arame. Again, once you get comfortable with that one note, the rhythm becomes much easier to learn.

It's a great toque for improvisation and variations, so once you get the basic pace and rhythm you can really play around with the notes.

Notes:
open, touch, buzz, open, touch, buzz, open, touch, open, touch, open (x4)

  • Nice vids man, they're very helpful. Though with the notes specifically with touch is that your group's way of referring to scratch (gourd on stomach with dobrao lightly touching arame as you strike it.) or is buzz referring to scratch? Since it's capoeira of course there's eight different ways of referring to the same thing.

  • @seanmichealangelo yeah, that's a reference to a scratch. Gotta love the vast dictionary of capoeira moves and notes. Thanks for watching!

  • Still my favorite

  • @AxeToken thanks, man

  • Man, I had been playing this rhythm all this time not knowing it was called anything - I thought I had just made it up, haha!! Your practice is paying off :)
