Quite simply, John Hammond is one of the most talented and dedicated blues men alive today.
A thorough gentleman no less as well.

I love this guy, so glad I discovered him.

Saw him at the Mariposa festival in Toronto in the early 70's. He was great then. Obviously he still is great. He really inhabits those songs.

I hate it how people are racist. Like seriously it has nothing to do with him being white or black. Yeah, Blake people invented this music but only because white racist pricks were treating them terribly.

Your opinion doesn't seem to be shared by the many black bluesmen that John Hammond has shared a stage with. The man can play and they didn't care what color his skin was.

He is definitely heart of the blues, one of the very few whites to actually GET IT including Spider John Koerner and eric Clapton. I worked with John H at the Back Door club in Ventura years ago, Lightnin' (Sam) Hopkins was backstage with us too. He liked what Jr did a lot.
So whoever the asshole is who said he was not a bluesman doesn't know shit. Get back to your bubblegum teenybopper glamrock blues. Robert Johnson started it all with the first blues recordings.
