  • Wonderful. How do you know that it's James Jamerson playing bass?

  • @Carambabambasamba: That is what I read on another video posting and it sure does sound like him does it not? Might be a good detective mission, because if it isn't him them I would like to know who it is! Tough to find anything definitive...

  • Basslines and voice perfect!

  • Unfortunately, Carol Kaye does not seem to have been in any of the 2 versions that we've been talking about. Version #1 is from a studio session whose musicians are known. Carol's name is not among them. Version #2 is a TV/video version that was once posted here: the musicians who accompany Peg in that video are all males. So, looks like, if Carol ever accompanied Peggy on bass for this song, it would have been live, in concerts not preserved. How do you know of Carole's involvement, rdwhit100?

  • @Carambabambasamba Carol Kay recorded it with her. Don't know if this is the one with her

  • im sure for him that song must have been on his top 10 favourite recordings.

  • i LOVE this song, specially with peggys voice, the video is absolutely awesome, peggy gave a lot to the song, its cool and sexy at the same time

  • Thanks for the prompt & nice reply, Untidylives. This record is from a Capitol session. Its musicians are known: there were 2 bassists in it, Jimmy Bond & Don Bagley. So, it must have been one of them. The video that you saw was probably the one in which Peggy & co are singing live, right? That's a different (though similar) version to this one; I don't know who the musicians are in that other video, so it could be Jamerson there, thought it's unlikely because he worked mostly w/Motown folks :)
