Young Montagnard reporters with Flip cameras at the 2011 Mosaic Festival. Background info can be found at http://youngprojects.blogspot.com/2011/05/montagnard-reporters-at-mosaic-fest... The event was held in Greensboro, NC. This video had its origins in a collaboration with UNC School of the Arts as part of their work with the Montagnard community, "The Global Village Revisited", http://dma-dega.blogspot.com. Thanks to UNCSA for the loan of the Flips.
Postscript: The inclusion in this video captured by our reporters of drawings by Palestinian kids (depicting war and suffering) brought about criticisms and requests from Mosaic organizers to take them down. Fortunately, the Islamic Center refrained from complying. As our kid reporters show, refugee lives have been full of hardship and violence. Surely this is an important part of their experience we don't wish to deny? And, without recognition of the circumstances that brought them to Greensboro it would be hard to understand the importance of celebrating them on Mosaic day.
It seems like some of the organizers could use some diversity training.
Wow very nice do they have this fesitival every year?

This is the second year. Attendance jumped from about 1000 in 2010 to 3500 this year! Guilford County is now a very culturally diverse place. The 2010 Census numbers also show that Greensboro is no longer a "white majority" city.
