PORT OF IPSWICH
LIVE EXPORT OF CALVES
Associated British Ports has accepted this trade while Dover Docks are under repair. Two other Ports refused. If Ipswich proves viable for the Exporters (and the Port)it could continue or return in the future.
PLEASE OBJECT and help to end this cruel trade which causes so much suffering to thousands of animals. Male calves are the waste product of the Dairy Industry. Often only 2 -- 4 weeks old they are driven from as far away as Wales and Scotland, and face a long sea journey from Ipswich to France and on to Holland, Belgium, Italy and even Spain -- more long hours on transporters. Death and disease can be high. Destined for the Veal Trade their short 6 month life is spent in group pens. Crates are now banned - but they have little room, no bedding, fed only on milk substitute to keep the meat white and little or no light for the same reason. It is hypocrisy to discard these young animals to a system which is not acceptable in the UK.
YOU CAN HELP TO STOP THIS CRUEL TRADE - PLEASE CONTACT WITH A POLITE PHONECALL/ EMAIL/OR LETTER:-

totally agree. I think it also lowers the tone of the campaign and there is little to be achieved by shouting at lorry drivers - there are far more effective methods to be used, that would alert (rather than alienate) a wider audience to the issues. (for the record, i disagree with live export)

Please visit the Scottish Parliament's website and sign the petiton titled 'Animal slaughter without pre-stunning'. This petition seeks to prohibit this cruel practice and can be found in the e-petitions section.
Many thanks,
Josey

Totally agree with the sentiments of the protestors, the live export trade is a vile, cruel and unnecessary industry which should be stopped immediately. I would however say that screaming at the lorries in the manner shown in this video may cause even greater unnecessary suffering to the animals as it scares and panics them further. Silent protest as they pass would be equally as effective.

Suffolk has the 1st case of bluetongue!
Lets take a look at this...live calves r exported out of Ipswich Port over 2 Europe, then the dirty smelly lorries return 2 the UK via Ipswich Port 2 collect the next load of calves from the Scotish Borders & the West Country.
The farm where the disease was detected is just off the A14 & has a river running though it. The river runs straight from the Port & the lorries would av used the A14.
A week later we have bluetongue. Bit of a coincidence?
