Brady Campaign "Lie-In" at Laney College, Oakland CA

On the anniversary of the Virginia Tech massacre, the Oakland/Alameda County Chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence joined with the Associated Students of Laney College in a "lie-in" to remember the victims and rally support of AB2235, the California Owner-Authorized Handgun Bill. Lorrain Taylor and an impromptu choir performed her song "Time to Take a Stand."

Why not try to protest for harsher gun laws for criminals instead of laws that affect legal, law abiding gun owners. Guns are not evil just the people that use them for evil purposes. I have been shooting guns since I was 7 and have never been negligent or acted irresponsibly but by your logic I would be as guilty as a common criminal.

Gee, I wonder what my dead classmates would say if they saw people having a pow-wow and imitating them lying on the ground dead to push a political agenda.

The "gun safety technology" this woman is talking about exists in concept only. Anyone who knows anything about firearms knows that these technologies are unreliable at best and dangerous at worst.

If someone is negligent with a firearm, punish that person- don't legislate against a tool that, when used properly, can save your life.

You guys ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Not only is turning the deaths of innocent students into an excuse to rally for your political campaigns, but gun control is empirically and rationally indefensible.

So, keep it up with the anti-American, anti-self-defense, irrational arguments.

But hey, keep blaming the guns for crimes. We don't blame knives, bats, or cars for deaths. It's only when it's a gun.
