    And what's more, a CEO always makes the final call. He is essentially an editor. He blocks bad ideas, and pursues good ones. It is not a coincidence that all the products and services pursued by Apple are in keeping with their overall brand identity. If you want to argue that Apples real value is created by the 1000's of employees (which it party is), you should be aware of the latest studies that point to 15-20% of a company's growth being attributed to the CEO.

    Marketing definition: art and science of choosing target markets and getting, keeping and growing customers through creating, delivering and communicating superior customer value. Jobs chose markets to move into, such as the music and smart telecommunications. You originally said Jobs "trash talking other competitors" etc. To me that is creating superior value for the customers. That fulfills the definition of marketing mentioned above. Proof he was a good marketer is the growth of the company.
