Its cloated analglands, you should have emptied them insteed of filming.

@brian4it I really hate to bring this up 2 years later, because I know the heartache of losing one. But your vet didn't recommend a high dose antibiotic for the vertigo (also known as vestibular disease)? My dog had it last year and I did a lot of research online and actually told my vet what she had. He confirmed and treated. She has no lasting effects from it but it did take her a while to regain control of her limbs.

God I've missed the butt drag. My weimeraner used to drag his butt on the ground, due to full anal glands (never had worms a day in his life, thank goodness!).

@brian4it This doesn't appear to have anything to do with worms. Obviously your dog just had no respect for you or your dwellings whatsoever. This is beyond scent marking, Maggie is saying "I wipe my bottom on you and yours, buy me a better grade of food, cheap skate!"

hey, when your ass itches, ya gotta do whatcha gotta do. just wish i could do that, it sure would get the neighbors talking....

@DocVuDu the reason they "butt drag" is not a result of the dog having worms. It is because they have full anal glands which need to be emptied by a vet. If they are not emptied you dog will get an anal gland abscess which will then burst, resulting in the dog requiring it to be thoroughly cleaned and given antibiotics.

fuck yeah!!!!!!
Unfortunately we had to put Maggie down about 4 months ago. She was 14 and go a form of doggie vertigo, I forget the technical term, but essentially makes it so the dog can't stand up without falling down because of dizziness. They won't eat or drink because it upsets their stomach... Sad, but at least the Butt Drag lives on! :)

when dogs do the "butt drag" it's usually because they have worms. over time, if not treated, this can cause malnutrition and/or severe anemia. either of those can then lead to severe dizziness.
people who have a dog doing this might want to take their dog to the vet rather than just think how funny it is that their dog is doing something so abnormal and persistently.
People will slam me for pointing this non-fun info out, but I care more about dogs who are suffering than being popular on YT.

I appreciate that you are looking out for dogs, you are not the first to suggest worms. Maggie had her stool checked regularly on her visits to the vet and as a pet owner it is a little insulting when people assume I would never think to have my dog checked for worms.
As some ppl pointed out I feel it is was more likely that she had full anal glands since she would do this randomly every once in a while from when she was a puppy up until she was 14, usually when she was over-excited.
