bio

Campbell Ross Wright was born in 1950 in Washington DC. He spent his
early childhood and most of his life growing up on farms in Virginia
and in Maryland, where he raised horses, pigs, and chickens as well as
growing corn, wheat, and soybeans. At the early age of seven Campbell
was influenced mightily toward music when his young mind was rocked by
his first experience hearing Elvis Presley perform "Hound Dog". After
spending sometime pursuing a career as a painter and a sculptor in New
York City (his paintings and work are show in major collections around
the world) he found that his desire for music and the shaping of his
seven year old mind by Elvis was a seed planted that would not and
could not be ignored. His passion suddenly found him working as a
singer and songwriter in Nashville. In 1995, he wrote his first song
entitled "The Old Guitar". Since then, he has found himself working
among great artists such as Livingston Taylor, David Bromberg, Taj
Mahal, Tom Rush, Dave Van Ronk, John Fahey, and his mentor Paul
Siebel. He has performed with his band The Bluenose Gophers and played
with The Moondogs, the Hootenanny Orchestra, Grateful Floyd, The Kenny
Haddaway Trio, and the J. Guy Combo. Recently Campbell is working on
many new music projects and a new and anticipated album that will be
coming up soon.
