In this 5th episode of the 2nd series, we see how the climax scene of Princess Mononoke turns out to be like after the tremendous struggles Miyazaki's been through.
Then next appear Ghibli Producer Toshio Suzuki and a trailer production's Itagaki-san, who share with us the backstage stories of making Princess Mononoke's ''Trailer'' which includes the shocking scenes of a pair of arms getting cut, a head decapitated...
Later, all the Public Relations' professionals for advertising Princess Mononoke gather in Atami, Shizuoka to talk out and get the optimum Ad Strategies. Producer Suzuki stresses out the PR reps' basic understanding of the work is essential before anything else. Each comments on how they thought or felt reading Mononoke's storyboards. Their all being professional in advertising or PR area but holding each unique (and sometimes funny) standpoint is somewhat intriguing to listen to.
Enjoy this great series anyhow then ( ;

NOTE)
In the trailer there's a phrase ''A total of 110,000 Sheets'' but it's turned out to be more than that it seems...
''Miyazaki personally checked each of the 144,000 cels in the film, and is estimated to have redrawn parts of 80,000 of them.''

  • How much is 50 billion yens compare to Dollars?

  • Actually their sales objective was 5 billion yens (on the blackboard reads ''50 Oku Yens'' but ''Oku'' is the Japanese numeric unit equivalent of hundred million or 1/10 billion)

Back to your question: since 1 USD = 110 JPY approximately so 5 billion JPY is about 45 million USD.

  • Oh, it seems Ghibli's objective for their ''net income'' was 5 billion yens (=45 million USD), not for the sales...sorry!

  • Yea I really would love to have sat in on that P.R meeting.

I saw this as a pre-teen and at the time it was one of my first real japanese animated productions and to describe it, I'd say it was Wonderful not as in Happy, but as in Eyes Wide Open.

  • thanks for putting the subs under the video

  • when they talk about the teaser trailer on 4.02, the da-dan-dan-da-dan part, that song. What is it what Studio Ghibli album is it from or the name of the song will help. Thanks
