@paralies That's correct, and it wasn't loud at all. Here's the thing though, it was on a '92 Cherokee and those have quite a large catalytic converter which I'm convinced is why it's so quiet. I did the same thing on my current Grand Cherokee with the same motor and it was very loud (you can see my video), but the cat is about half the size of the one on the old XJ. The newer Cherokees share that small cat as well, so depending on what year yours is, your results may be quite different.

I have a 96 xj-but I am not into noise-especially in cab droning-but I like to go when needed. This is very surprising result. Maybe a straight through muffler will be ok, as opposed to stock.
Sounds way better then I would have ever imagined.Sounds better then mine and I have a thrush muffler lol.

It's always surprising to people when they find out. Which thrush do you have? On my last XJ I had a "thrush welded" that was a good flowmaster knock off, but it sounded no better than my cheap straight pipe. With a stock cat these 4.0 I6 motors just don't put out a lot of sound.
