@murrmac , I guess somebody uses a stone!

@musicalmoses Old pros like this guy don't need no stinking radiused blocks.

@nickothompson I'm not saying you can't do a passable job with makeshift tools, but as for the guys who work on the guitars used by the top pros, none of them would use a stone. I know, I supply these sanding beams, and once you've used one, you never go back.
FWIW, levelling the frets without the aid of a precision neck jig is also a no-no as far as I am concerned. The "flatness" of a neck adjusted under string tension, is a different "flatness" than that in a neck without tension.

@murrmac Thats just not true, I learned to work on guitars at Roberto-Venn, and the size of stone he used is absolutely acceptable, while I do use a 16" sanding beam I can do a good job with a piece of glass and some sandpaper thats about the same size as his stone. There are guys that teach at that school, that use all kinds of stuff, it's really just personal preference.

Uhh, why not use a stone? Result should be the same either way.

nobody uses a stone nowadays.
you need a flat sanding beam, precision ground, at least 16" long, with 240-320 PSA abrasive on the edge.
Google "TECHNOFRET".

OK, thanks :-)
I'm just going to make a guitar with my Dad as a sort of bonding thing XD.
The guitar won't be put to any real use, so I guess I'm going to go for fretless, because I like the aesthetics better hehe.
This video series is very entertaining by the way! 5/5
Do your guitars not have a neck radius? Or, does that stone have one?

14" radius - flat stone

Is a fretless neck easier or harder to make? I'm assuming it's more complex than simply not adding frets... But I really do not know.

A fretless neck is not any easier, except that it doesn't have frets. To me, a nice neck is all about the feel and that takes time. A fretless neck
has the slots filled with a contrasting veneer which is sanded flush.

I'd try tung oil instead...it dries to a hard finish.
Linseed can be kind of gummy.
