Edward Kennedy Memorial Service - VP Joe Biden (Part 1)

Vice President Joe Biden pays tribute to Sen. Edward Kennedy at the memorial service for his uncle at the JFK Presidential Library in Boston.

Biden said Teddy was "an incredible man" who "in an unexpected way ended up playing an important part in my adult life.

"I wouldn't be standing here... were it not for Teddy Kennedy."

Biden adds that Kennedy was a good friend. "He sort of took on the role of being my older brother," Biden said. "He was there all the time."

I will never forget the time Teddy came to see me in the hospital after surgery, he knew my dad but not me. He sat with me for a half hour all alone with no one there. He came back the next day and stayed and lifted my spirits. He treated me as though he had always known me. I will never forget his kindness

I was most moved by this speech. I did not know he'd lost a wife and daughter. I was widowed young like he was. And I know the blessing of a dear friend that he described in Sen Kennedy.
