Ever wonder what happens to the dogs and cats that dont get adopted at shelters? Ever wonder what happens to the squirrels, rats, etc. that are exterminated from homes and other properties because they are a "nuisance"? The fatty acids and tallow in your makeup, barsoap and even petfood doesnt just come from livestock in the slaughterhouses-it comes from the billions of unwanted animals in the US. Dead dogs, cats, and rodents are boiled down (rendered) into a thick soup which is then used in some makeup and petfood and in most barsoap. If you ever see the term "rendered meat" as one of your petfood ingredients, it's most likely the boiled down flea collars, ID tags, euthanization drugs and carcasses of cats and dogs who didnt get adopted at animal shelters.

The city of Los Angeles alone, for example, sends some two hundred tons of euthanized cats and dogs to a rendering plant every month. Added to the blend are the euthanized catch of animal control agencies, and road kill. When this gruesome mix is ground and steam-cooked, the lighter, fatty material floating to the top gets refined for use in such products as cosmetics, lubricants, soaps, candles, and waxes. The heavier protein material is dried and pulverized into a brown powder-about a quarter of which consists of fecal material. The powder is used as an additive to almost all pet food as well as to livestock feed.

It hisses at me when I try to pick it up..It was on my bed one night and I was trying to move it so I could stretch my legs and it hissed and bit at me FOR WAKING IT UP. Often I've been asleep and it will come in my room and meow loud because it wants milk or to get in the attic to EXPLORE at 2AM..so..you know what..if it gets hit by a car..so be it..at least the flying squirrels won't be missing relatives and baby cousins(it never eats them, only kills for fun)

On 2nd thought...I really don't care about saving cats..I have a cat and it brings in baby animals smaller than it and plays with them until they die. Mice,squirrels,snakes,birds, you name it..if it can kill momma and bring baby inside and torture it until it's dead..it will..so if someone caught my cat and sent it off to the lab..so be it..I love my cat, but I don't like it murdering all the small animals it has murdered and if humans do sadistic things to animals..so what

I'm soooooo SICK AND TIRED of everyone showing animal abuse and then suggesting if they know of an animal who's being abused call the humane society!! The humane soceity will not abuse them, but they will HUMANELY MURDER THEM. I prefer abuse over murder, thank you!
