"Before Freud or Dunne, dreaming of teeth falling out means a corpse or a death in the family. If the dreamer sees his own teeth falling out it portends death. A single tooth falling out represents the death of a relative, a dream of tearing out a tooth forebodes illness in the family and if the tooth only wobbles, someone at a distance will die."

---Pg. 157 of "The Immortal Tooth" by Edward Samson
London, John Lane, 1939.

The style of dreamwork utilized is called projective dreamwork, Jeremy Taylor has written a few books on the subject. One of the key aspects of the work is sharing dreams with others, and having each person in the group say what the dream may mean to them, because symbols and dreams can have multiple interpretations and meanings.
