Why do you people think this is a sad ending? I think it's a pretty happy one. He got the chance he always wanted, the chance to be with his wife and have a life with her. So, for me, it is indeed a happy ending. I loved this movie, Toby Stephens is a great actor, and he's so handsome also!

@Poemsapennyeach The whole point is that he wants to die. So, ergo, he isn't afraid at all. If he had shown fear in his eyes, then it wouldn't have been convincing.
