It couldnt be payne coz he was in the next season and Eli was able to see him but I think Jim was hidden and so had no shadow

Nobody dies in this season, the shadow thing is just an omen. Payne doesn't die (thank God, he's one of my favourite people on the show), but he does leave in the first episode of season 4 because of the trip he was supposed to go on in season 2, but he didn't go on, so he goes in season 4. Jim dies in season 4 (from what I read on here) by being shot in episode 6 (again, I read it on here). To answer your questions: Nobody dies here. Jim dies later.

no jim really dies but he takes ovr someone elses body that was already dead. ppl see him as the guy that died but melinda sees him as jim and so do the viewers. i agree though it wouldnt be as good without jim!

i wonder why they never addressed this in the show. They made it seem like a big deal yet no one died.
If anyone died it would be Payne because if anybody else had died Payne wouldn't be able to see them and say "that they are 6 of us yet only 5 shadows."
Maybe Payne died and they just never addressed it.
