Genetos- Stage 5, Programmer Dificulty

Genetos was a game I showcased a while back in an unfinished state- the final level wasn't there. The game takes you on a journey through the generations of shooters- you start in Space Invaders and end up in danmaku. As the game evolves, so do you, and each generation brings new abilities. Since I already showcased it before, I've only uploaded the final level. Obviously, this video contains spoilers!

New to the final version is the ability to evolve different weapons systems based on how you play. If you spend a lot of time at the top of the screen for example your weapon becomes short-ranged but very powerful. If you get hit a lot, you evolve the ability to slow bullets down, and so on.

My one complaint about the game is that it's very generous with lives. On Normal (or Standard User) difficultyyou start with 15. Even on Hard (Programmer) mode you get 13 at the start of the game. Still, it's a great experience nonetheless and I wouldn't let the ease get in the way- Genetos is still as fantastic as it was when I first showcased it and a definite wirthwhile play.

The reason I'm guessing that you can wait out the last boss is so that every boss would be beatable without upgrading. Definitely adds a nice challenge I'd say.

Could be- though I don't much fancy lasting 15 minutes against the final boss with the Space Invaders ship! :P

Wonderful game, really. My personal favorite non-summon using combo is Blade-Flash-Counter.

I quite like Graze, myself. It's bad in the second generation but after that it gets useful.

i didn't know you could evolve the weapons i'm gonna have to experiment with it now :)

some of them are kinda hard to achieve but once you unlock them you can select them in History menu and use them in Free Play. It's just a shame there's no real opportunity to use them- you only really get to use them in the final level. It'd be nice if a later patch added a really long Extra level or something.

@Kevinblue035 What Graze does is that when it's active, when bullets graze your ship, it shoots bullets as well.
