Salma Yaqoob | Why the EDL march should be banned

Birmingham city councillor Salma Yaqoob - following a public meeting alongside Adrian Goldberg, Khalid Mahmood MP, John Hemming MP, Apache Indian, Cllr Judy Foster and Chief Insp Adrian Atherley - calls on the West Midlands Police to ban a march by far-right groups planned for September; following the violence erupted amidst an EDL - Casuals United demonstration on 8th August in the city.

Here she exlains why the EDL's forthcoming march should be banned for reasons of public safety and to maintain Birmingham's healthy tradition of diversity and tolerance. She also highlights how the EDL has officially stated its stance against 'all devout Muslims'.

The EDL has been banned from marching in Luton by Bedfordshire Police following 14,000 letters of complaint. We can do the same in Birmingham.
