Seen here, the headmaster, Mr Davenport (in the light coloured jacket), Miss Jury (at the mike) and Miss Parker. Amongst the 'athletes',Paul Thomas nearest camera in the first race.Andrew Beddall wins the sack race, Graham Stanley was second. I come last in the first race (short races were never my thing) and my brother keeps up a proud family tradition in the last! If you recognise yourself, mail me and I'll add you to the cast list.
Note how many people attended, how dry the fields were (global warming I expect) and that most of the housing in Hawkestone Road and Meaburn Close is (July '64)still at the scaffolding stage. The flats being built in Hazel Drive have since been demolished. (But this is Birmingham. Anything left standing after fifty years is virtually assured a Grade II listing!)
Sadly, none of the winners went on to the Tokyo Olympics later that year! The Friendsreunited website has fuller details about both the school and its students. Other photographs I've taken ( from 1966 to the present day) can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/21498924@N04/ (the older stuff is towards the back!)
