Handel's Samson was completed in 1741 shortly after Messiah. "With plaintive notes" is the aria in which Delilah apologises for her betrayal of Samson. The trills ingeniously convey her sophisticated insincerity.

"With doubtful feet and wavering resolution I come, oh Samson, dreading thy displeasure. But conjugal affection led me on, prevailing over fear and tim'rous doubt. Glad if in aught my help or love could serve to expiate my rash, unthought misdeed. With plaintive notes and am'rous moan, thus coos the turtle left alone"

  • Bravissima, cara Yvonne!!! This is really true Bel Canto as we would like to hear it more often: nice tone production," on a silver line", "on the point of the diamond", that carries effortlessly.Gorgeous trills!Noble sprezzatura. Really, formidable!!!What a legato and pastosita! Gorgeous! And nice shades of volume.

  • This Handel aria sounds great in your voice !

Beautiful colour in the medium as well and

    nice "souplesse" in the coloratura.

I would like to hear more !
