@bugsinrug ...and I don't know how many people remember that Canada hid a bunch of Americans in its Iranian Embassy during the hostage crisis (and got them out safely), but I remember it very well. I remember "THANK YOU CANADA!" signs all around here in western NY when that happened. It truly was an awesome thing to have done, and I respect and love Canada for having done it.
When the chips are down, you find out who your friends are. America could learn something from that.

@bugsinrug I don't know who flagged this as spam, but it surely wasn't me, Chris.
The older I get, the more I appreciate what these people gave up to try to do the right thing...and though it sounds like it, I don't mean just Americans. They've had a lot of help from other countries (Canada included, of course) and that help suffered and sometimes died, too, to keep the dreams alive. I respect and thank them all.

@snarkdetriomphe I didn't plan the minute of silence thing...it just seemed like a really bad idea to blow that candle out. No idea why.
The author is my mom. She's the artistic genius of the family; painting, photography, collages, writing, if you can name it and it's creative I'm sure she can kick my ass at it. Between her and my poet/songwriter/scultor dad, it's a hell of an inspiring situation. I love them both and know I'm very, very lucky.
