Northern Passage (Bari or Baree) Dog Movie starring a Shiloh Shepherd

This is from the 1994 movie Bari (retitled Northern Passage for the DVD release). It is based on the novel Baree, Son of Kazan, by James Oliver Curwood, and is about a wolf-dog, Baree (aka Bari), who suffers terrible abuse at the hands of an evil trapper (Lorne Brass). Baree befriends a young woman (Neve Campbell) and he tries to protect both himself and her from the man.

I believe the star of the film is a beautiful Shiloh Shepherd, though I have tried to contact the trainers without success and have been unable to confirm the dog's breed. It is possible that he is an unusual looking long-haired German Shepherd Dog.
