I have seen this movie several times, and have NEVER understood what Brando was saying. Listening to it here, over and over, I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND HIM!!

Exactly. It was like the book Catch-22. It was supposed to be an anti-war book but it was literally laugh out loud funny since I drew alot of parallels from the events of the book to my own military experience - no matter how exaggerated.

This is a great movie, even with it's flaws. It does, however, piss me off when turd burglars' only recollection of the movie is the napalm bit. Several fantastic performances, deep meaning that is just as relevant today as then. One interesting note: I did not think of it as an anti-war movie, as it was intended. That is what makes it great to me. Like all great art, different people can draw a different, yet still profound msg. Fav. line? "you are a grocery clerk...".
