Furthermore, the setting of this whole scene is so beautiful and the atmosphere created by this song is so haunting that one is amazed at the photography behind which the entire song focuses. There is some strange mystery that revolves around this song in particular and of course one is made aware of that mystery when one sees the entire movie. The direction of the movie by Kamal Amrohi was an added feature for the success of the movie esp.this very song.

This song had been a big hit on All India Radio for a considerably very long time. The music composition of this song by Khem Chand Prakash has been unparalell on all counts which is an absolute classic. The beauty of this song has been that no music director has as yet been able to beat Khem Chand Prakash as far as this song is concerened and Lata Mangeshkar has not been able to sing any song better than this song..This has been Lata Mangeshkar's 'the best' rendition of any song..

When this disc was released, the name on the disc was "Kamini", not Lata. This was because the practice till then was for the disc to carry the name of the character in the movie on whom it was picturised. In this case, Madhubala played the role of the girl named Kamini. Whem the song became a superhit, Lataji requested the Gramophone company to put her name on the disc. After several requests, they agreed and Lataji's name appeared on the disc. This gradually became the standard practice.

This song launched two great artists on their career: the incomparable Madhubala and the immortal Lata Mangeshkar! I am so fortunate to have lived in their time.

My father passed away on 29th July '11 from terminal leukemia. A month or so before that, he asked me to find this song on youtube which he told me heard as a young man. It makes me really happy to say that I did indeed find this video and play it for him.
