A good fun ride following Karl on his new 2011 Speed Triple in the Italian twisties. Some mixed surfaces in the dry in the middle of a 9 day trip in The Alps. I want to go back! Find this road in Google Maps searching for "SS52, Forni di Sopra, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy"

  • Oh, quite good video, where in Italy is this road?

  • @Al1200GS Al, As biziomd11 hinted at, it's Passo di Mauria eastbound towards Forni di Sopra. Have a peek at Google Maps (it's got streetview) looking for SS52, Forni di Sopra, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. Cheers.

  • perfect bike, perfect location, perfect road.

  • Man, I could watch that for hours.

  • @biziomd11 Hey. You live in a great part of the world, and my Ducati owning friends will be very jealous ;-). Have been to Italy maybe 5 or 6 times and apart from skiing there with the school once everyone otehr time has been by bike. Only really in the north and around the lakes otehrwise distance starts clocking up. Very beautiful area. Thanks for the offer to see some loacal roads. May well take you up on that kind offer some time :-). Cheers, Darren

  • @MrEunuch I rode to UK in 2008, visited Wales and Scotland and London to see friends, unfortunately only passed quickly through the south, will come again. I live in Rome but work west of Milan towards the lakes, and when i'm up there for work I stay just south of Simplon Pass near Domodossola. I try to take advantage of any spare time by riding around discovering new roads, and there are plenty! Should you plan a visit around here, definitely give me a shout, will show you around.

  • @biziomd11 Hampshire on the south coast. Getting over to France is pretty painless so better roads (not too bad here, just poor surface and not a lot of hills/mountains unless you go to Wales or Scotland) and the mountains not too far away. Whereabouts are you?

  • @MrEunuch :-) oh no, just a clever use of the pause button... I actually don't know the northneastern portion, but i have always heard rage reports and now your videos, will definitely have to plan a ride there sometimes next spring or summer. What part of the UK are you from?

  • @biziomd11 Yes, that's it. Thanks for the pointer. You obviously know the roads there well. Would love to have them in my back yard ;-)

  • @MrEunuch Friuli, Passo di Mauria eastbound towards Forni di Sopra, I suppose? :-)

  • @MrEunuch Thanks! I spend half my time in the Alps, just south of Simplon pass in Switzerland. Have found several very interesting streches of winding and scenic roads, Posted a couple here filmed with the gopro. But I'm always on the lookout for new ones. Yours is super. Cheers!
