Ignorant of the rules of the road, and wilfully careless with other people's safety, this bus driver even tries to lie about what happened, though he seemed to go quiet when I told him his behaviour was recorded on video.

When I spoke to him, his first words were: "you wanna try and stay in your lane", which was wrong on two counts. Firstly, I am not obliged to ride in the cycle lane. Secondly, the video shows clearly that I was pretty much in the centre of the cycle lane in any case.

I will be talking to First about this atrocious behaviour.

  • Further to my comment below however I can see from the vid that this driver passed too close. It was particularly silly considering the room he had to overtake safely.

  • @dannyfrench78 Thanks. It's good to hear from one of the normally silent majority of good drivers rather than the normal set of idiots that seem to comment abusiively about what are after all just straight video clips of what actualy happened.

  • @1234Dekka Why? Are you ashamed of it. If you are the driver, then you should be, though, from the personal message you sent me, I suspect you may be an imposter.

  • @1234Dekka Why? There is no right to privacy in the UK on a public road. The Information Commissioner even backs this up. You cant even claim deformation as the video is presented "as is".

Heather Mills, mate. No leg to stand on.

  • @1234Dekka It's Tuesday and it's still here.

  • @WellingtonBikeCam01 Well, cyclists aren't obliged to stay in the cycle lane either. The paint on the road serves absolutely no purpose in this case. We do have mandatory cycle lanes, which are denoted by a solid white line. They are only mandatory in the sense that motor vehicles are not allowed to enter them - cycles still are not obliged to use them.

One problem is that mandatory cycle lanes require a long, drawn out consultation process before they can be installed.

  • I think thats what you call a genuine idiot, at least he can count (1,2,3,4....) ;)

  • @dannyfrench78 From my experience of Swindon bus drivers I think you representative the vast majority of bus drivers.

It's unfortunate the video's on YouTube are normally of the bad one's, probably because they are more noticeable due the high standard of other bus drivers being something we consider normal and therefore not worthy of uploading to YouTube, if that makes any sense. My opinion is bad bus drivers are the exception not the norm.

  • @1234Dekka You're now coming across as a complete idiot, car registrations are public information and fully on display in public area's by law. All UK registered motorised vehicle details are freely available on the internet.

Do you cover your registrations plates up when your driving on public roads in front of the public, some of whom maybe criminals.

If you keep punishing cyclists for things you do not like it will not belong before you kill or seriously injure someone.

  • @MrGrumpycyclist - Damn! That's crazy... if it's unavoidable, eg to avoid a collision or road hazard, then a motor vehicle would arguably be justified swerving into a "bicycle only" lane, so long as it's not creating a hazard to anyone using that lane. So that "advisory cycle lane" really is an interesting form of "sharing the road"... What's mine is yours, and what's yours is also yours.

  • @dannyfrench78 Sorry to hear you have had such bad luck with the cyclists you encounter. I find that, just like bus drivers, most cyclists I encounter are careful, thoughtful and courteous, but there are some bad ones. In both cases, I think the bad ones are few, but still too many, and they tend to stick in the mind.
