IMPORTANT: Facing an armed attacker is a LAST RESORT OPTION (common sense). If possible, escape is always best when faced with a weapon or any violent or potentially violent situation. That said, here are few ideas on defense against baseball bat using the Aikido principle of entering and turning. The idea is NOT to stop or catch the bat the bat. The idea is to move inside the power arc in the direction of the swing and use the motion of the swing to take the attacker off balance. No, this is not a full-speed demo, but it is a real bat. That clinking sound you hear is my titanium wedding band against the aluminum bat.

  • A lot of techniques in Aikido are useful. The problem is practicing them at full speed, and weeding out the low percentage techniques.

  • @PandawdyBob Ultimately it is true, but trying to go too fast too soon can cause you to make false conclusions about what works and what doesn't. You have to really spend some time with anything before you can hope to judge it fairly. Speed comes naturally with repetition in the proper form.

  • I have one belief. It it aint real time, it aint real fighting. And if it aint real fighting it might as well be a pillow fight.

  • @TheComputerGiant You can't do everything at full-speed right away. When you learned to drive did you start at the on-ramp to the free way or in an empty parking lot? When you learned to play music, did you just start jamming at 120 bpm or did you practice scales and exercises? Practicing at lower, safer speeds helps ensure proper technique and control of your body. Reduced-speed demos and drills are standard for practice and instruction in jujitsu and many other martial arts.

  • aikido takes verry long to master before you can use it in an actual fight, people need to understand this before raging on the demonstration here

  • Aikido is fake, he jumps to make it look good. Also he wasnt swinging hard at all besides the fact that he missed on purpose

  • I realy like how the attacker does his best not hitting his partner. Typical Aikido Bullshit. Do you realy think that you can throw someone who is realy willing to hit you with a baseball-bat?

  • For all you yay whos who commented when I said if it aint full speed fighting it aint real fighting. Yes i get the fact you got to train slow, try moving that slow in real life and see what happens! Is this a strategy video or is this a prove it video, I think we now know.

  • Fear causes the defender to rely on physical speed and strength to overcome his enemy. A good Aikido person calms his mind and relies on position and timing instead of physical speed and strength. U go in an arch, I come in a line. U come in a line, I go at an angle. How much strength of mind do you need for this? An incredible amount of mental power. But when u get to that level, ur Aikido or any art will seem supernatural to the untrained eye. Your timing will appear psychic when it's not.

  • @TheComputerGiant - That's a good belief...how do you think you will ever get to real time if you don't study, train, analyze in detail at slower times or more controlled repetitions? You like so many other people who think you know things have mistaken what is called training for the real thing.

You think baseball, football, or any sports doesn't use controlled repetitious training before they go at it? Keep this in mind before typing next time.

  • you sucks real bad

  • aikido is gay as fuck, i would like to see him do that while im swinging that at 100% power and speed

  • At least we know this pedophile will be safe from someone attacking him in slow motion with a baseball bat ;P

  • do you seriously think that you can catch the bat with your bare hands in full speed? That would most certainly break your hand.

  • @EnsoAikido idc if you need to practice slow, if this guys for real then he would be able to catch it at full speed from a random baseball player, and he not gonna have any idea of wat angle the buts going for either
