  • To RenegadeChauffeur, that's what I said, station 51 now exists, but it did not exit as a department number when Emergency was filmed. The Universal station, on the lot for years, was redesignated as "51" in honor of Emergency, following cancellation of the program. In the clip, I believe it was station 54, not 51 that was heard on the radio.

  • The squad responds code 3 with the ambulance is case there is an imminent, life threatening crisis with the patient, such as a full arrest, where both paramedics would be immediately required.

  • I believe you actually heard Squad 54, but there is a station 51 with an engine and squad.

  • @LAvppfire The famed "Squad and Engine 51" are at Universal Studios, are indeed an actual company, and were "first in" to a recent fire at the studios.

  • way is the driver playing with sirien way not flip it on and leave it on sceems stupid the driver can have 2 hands on the wheel in stead of using one to play with the sirien.

  • Both LAFD and LACoFD use Fiamm Hi Lo Air horns. FD's in Germany and some other european countries still use the older Martinhorn along with a electronic siren. WOLO also makes a Hi Lo air horn similar to what Fiamm makes.

  • The Hi Lo is just added for fun.

  • If I remember correctly, didn't LACoFD do away with the high-lo horn system back in the late 70's-early 80's because it was ineffective? I could be wrong...

  • Is it necessary for the squad to follow Code 3? Isn't that dangerous?

  • anyone know who makes the hi lo horn on this rig and what model is it
