This video uses the Berserker engine for the game, Quake 2.

I tried out some of the graphical enhancements for the game such as Q2M & EGL and I thought berserker had the best features. Features like real-time lighting from all light sources (including flashlight)and bump mapping to go along with it. That means real-time shadows from both the map architecture and models in it. That's accomplished by giving the light sources limited range so there aren't an insane amount of shadows everywhere from all the lights. It's fairly newish stuff that you see in games like STALKER and HL2 Ep2.

My gripe with the flashlight is that it's source is right next to the player's FOV. That means the shadows that it casts are hard to see at a distance. Much better for atmosphere if it were placed at chest level where the real time shadows would be much more noticeable from it.

  • AFAIK The music is Strickland's March, not Reactor.

  • @Shpuld guy who gave it to me had it titled Reactor. can't verify.

  • it just looks too smooth and rounded over for me. i kind alike hte grittiness of the original

  • @SchutzstaffelAnarchy I won't disagree. Playing through Doom 2 again and I'm looking at the shiny ports with 3d models, etc. and it destroys the nostalgia for me. Gimme mah sprites back! Never played quake 2 when it was released, tho.

    I'm getting this engine.

    I'm GETTING this engine.

I love quake 2 so much, but it was so outdated, I didn't dare to think that something like this existed.

  • @jmganjaman, typically these user-made mods aren't as optimized as newer games, so they end up being resource hogs. There are Doom mods which will slow down modern computers.

  • without Quake 2, Quake 1 and Doom and Wolfenstein before it Crysis wouldn't even exist.

there are still games to this day that use Quake 1 code. so show some respect to the forefathers of fps games.

  • this game lags like hell i got from 2 to 10 fps ,wtf ?! i can run fallout 3 on low-medium settings with 20-32fps

  • @M3G4G0TH lol dude >.>

Take a course yourself, there's no way anyone in their right mind woulda seen that as sarcasm...you made it sound like you a nu-era fanboy claiming Crysis to be all-powerful. Re-read what you typed because I know how to pick up on sarcasm. :P

  • @Astaticembrace get a course in sarcasm you fool :-D

  • @M3G4G0TH This game is far better than that other "shit" you mentioned.

  • after all those years this game still kicks ass... ;)

  • wtf? crysis music?
