    I think the advantage of this system is that each slice has the same weight, so the thickness will be different depending on the other dimensions.

    Businesses like the supermarket where one buys the meat.. to take home =).  Are people really picky that the package weighs a little more/less than the next one? I guess if they are all the same weight/price, people won't be shuffling the meat packages around and makes it easier to choose.

    I don't know about you, but I like my steaks the same thickness, otherwise they be a pain to cook evenly. After buying a family pack of chops... the thought of weighing each one never occurred to me.

    I guess ok for meat like pork or whatever one plans to cooked fully, but that would not work well for steak.
