  • Other riders have spare parts shipped to locations they are soon to reach, perhaps you can do the same with easy to mix protein powders? It could be a tastey treat too! No, I don't sell them, but the idea came to me while I thought what I'd do if I took such a trip. I would also "pull" a trailer, the same way you do. Have you ever hard any thief run up and try and snatch your trailer? Have you ever made contact with Larry Savage(Miles From Nowhere)?

  • Thanks again for your fast reply! I don't pretend to be a protein powder expert or anything, but I noticed in some books written by others who have taken long bicycle trips that hunger is a big problem, so a 3-5 pound bottle(or Ziplock bag) of powder could supply you with a quick energy/protein "fix" when the nearest market is 54 miles away and ISOPURE is one of several that does not need milk, water is fine.

  • I do not know much about protein powder. I bet it is a hard thing to find in developing countries. How we got started on this trip and what inspired us to go would take a long time to answer but it is all in the first chapter of our first book which can be read in its entirety on our web site.

  • Say, when you were in Thailand, I hope you were able to attend concerts in the Thai language!! It's beautiful!

  • Thanks for the details of your trip, it's all very interesting! I would like to visit english speaking countries the most. From reading past books, extreme hunger is a major factor, especially in the morning or when food shopping is not so easy. I thought Isopure protein powder, which can be mixed with water is the way to go. Instantly you'd have 25-50 grams of protein, great for building leg muscles! Any comments? Oh, what inspired you to start your trip? Thanks!

  • I think we are up to 22 countries which is not many in 7 years but we like big countries. (see below) We have seen Chinese buffets in all countries but usually we can not afford them.

    12 months in Australia

    6 months in Mexico

    9 months in China

    8 months in New Zealand

    and so on

  • Thanks for your fast reply! and your answers to my questions! Oh, fire grilled steak, yum! any BBQ sauce?

Q: In how many countries have you seen Chinese Buffets?

  • After 7 continuous yeas of living on our bikes we are pretty set in what kind of seats we like. Do a search on our web site to find several pages we have written about it.

We are in the USA for the next 8 months then flying overseas again. Our favorite food to cook while camping is fire grilled steak but we can rarely afford it in this country.

  • Yes, these and other books helped get us motivated to travel. We also have written 2 books and the 1st chapter of the first book describes how we made the decision to travel and our preparations. You can read the entire first chapter found by looking around our web site.

  • Recently I've seen new bike seats that my interest you, they are more-or-less square-ish, flat with rounded corners. Just what the backside ordered! Just thought this might interest you. *After so many years of riding, your legs must be as hard as rock! Q: What is your favorite food to cook, at your campsites?
