Chimpanzee, sometimes colloquially chimp, is the common name for the two extant species of ape in the genus Pan. The Congo River forms the boundary between the native habitat of the two species.

-Common Chimpanzee, Pan troglodytes (West and Central Africa)
-Bonobo, Pan paniscus (forests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo)

  • well we do not know that the chimpanzee is the deal here, we can come from a extinct race for all we know. our dna maches many annimals in some ways.

  • LOZ! Now I know what you looked like! I didn't know you were British. Thanks for posting this, this was great! G

  • We have all kinds of transitional fossils that creationists don't believe that exist. E.g. Proconsul - An African subgenus of Dryopithecus that lived 17-20 million years ago and is possibly ancestral to modern hominoids. The genus was thought to be ancestral to the chimpanzee.

  • I always wonder what it would be like to take all the evidence we have now, take it back in time and show it all to Charles Darwin. Just imagine the kick he'd get out of knowing what we know now.
