Long time fans of the Star Trek franchise say JJ Abrams' enjoyable, engaging prequal betrays what Star Trek is all about.

I'm not sure when "thinking" became un-fashionable. Everything is getting dumbed down to support this wretched idea that if something is complicated or insightful, it's boring. You see it with the fans of the new Star Wars films, who thought the old ones has too many "boring scenes". God help them.

Congratulations! I only mentioned that because every teen on the internet claims, "music is my life" even though they've never even picked up an instrument. You are literally the first person I met who has put that in their description who actually does DO music. And I do enjoy music very much, you sound like you probably appreciate classical like myself. That being said, enjoy not understanding why people love the old star trek series.

Agree, people have been dumbed down to the point where they will lap up whatever they are told to as with music today.......Star Trek series 1/2 didn't require cutting edge CGI to immerse you in the show.

ok we'll agree to disagree. if you don't have at least a basic appreciation for music then I pity you because it really is one of the most important aspects of a person's life and something everyone should enjoy. I've studied music theory for 6 years now, played the clarinet and guitar, even written my own compositions. I literally thrive off of music; my life would seem empty without it. if that makes me a shallow twat then you can go fuck yourself.

Those movies you listed had about 2 hours each to them, and a much higher budget per hour. Trek had to spread their special effects budget across about 25 hours of film every season. It was absolutely not the same story! I don't know what series you watched but nearly every episode was incredibly original and WAY ahead of its time. Your page description says, "Music is everything to me.", so I'm just going to dismiss you as a shallow twat.

please don't try to lecture me on special effects, you know that CGI didn't even exist in the 1960s right? your defense of this terrible series and critique of modern films is completely contradictory and laughable. there is no excuse for those terrible effects other than lack of effort and low budget. 2001, Planet of the Apes, even the fucking Time Machine had better effects and they were made during the same time period. as for the plot: it was the SAME STORY every episode, just tweaked.

cheap thrills, JJ made trek a T & A show- Not like the pussy hound Roddenberry who would order the skirts as short as possible, wherein the actresses often couldnt sit without "smiling" , many "costumes" for women were just pinned pieces of cloth or they were sewn in them because they were so sparse. yep no cheap thrills there.

7 of 9s tight body suit, Trois, T'Pols unitard and underwear scenes, nope no T & A or cheap thrills in trek.. lol I love selective fan memory

another blind JJ hater that misses the message completely. Trek is inclusive not exclusive. And every new movie and new series is condemned as destroying "their" star trek...
