Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel will be the focal point of the iconic Abraj Al Bait Complex, part of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project whose mandate is to upgrade the precincts of the Two Holy Mosques. This includes a 40 meter clock, visible from 17 kilometers away, which will announce daily prayers to the Muslim world, while the Lunar Observation Center and Islamic Museum will serve to protect the heritage for future generations

@bskulldragon100 What public hotel? Makkah is a place for all Muslims it should be a land opened for poor and rich to stay together. Why a rich Muslim stays up in the tower and a poor Muslim is down sleeping in a tent? This land was so beautiful surrounded with mountains and trees :(

I find this strange, why would you build such a huge thing so close to your religion's holiest place.

It seems like if someone would build a huge skyscraper next to St Paul's cathedral in Rome or the wailing wall or alquds mosque in Jerusalem, questionable.

I don't believe in any religion or any gods, so it's not my business really, but I think if I did, I think I'd find it offensive to put such huge buildings so close to a holy place, since it makes the holy mosque and kaaba look smaller.

theres no parks around kaab for people to sit and enjoy nature. as soon as you finish salaah u head straght to shopping malls in these huge structures or head to your hotels, very depressing if you are there for 2 weeks or a month.

As is this is impressive in height and design. No clock tower will impress me more than the one that houses Big Ben which was built of for more basic tools and no huge cranes.
