well, trying for a detailed look in the blast, used maya fluids with resolution of 100,100,100 cant pull up the res more than that... :(, am sure this will look nicer with more resolution on the container.
big thanks to viki to getting me back to maya fluids...he has been quite inspiring...
trying different lighting colours as well...

  • You can up the resolution to a higher value if you just type it in. A lot of the sliders work that way in maya. How the hell can you play that on playblast though. What kind of machine are you running on. I got quadcore and 6 gigs of memory and at 100 resolution that thing plays like every 20 frames on playblast for me..

  • @archdukezeb ??? man i am a little lost here didnt understand the point of the resolution of a higher value u posted... typing it in? - secondly how can it play 20 frames on playblast? playblast buffers ur sim and then creates a hardware render which plays back realtime....

    let me know if i was clear...

  • Yes, it is. I tried to get the small mushroom explosion around the big one like yours but no way I can get that look. Did you mean the turbulence of the Axis Field or the turbulence of the fluid container?I hope you could give me more detail.

  • well i have taken a plane to emit the fluids from... i have a volume field with falloff turned on so that it limits the force to only a certain location...yes i have turned on the turbulence in the volume emitter... cube shape is what i have taken to push it up... so i guess if you try to emit from a larger area and limit the force to the center part.. you will get the turbulence to peak up the parts which are not getting affected directly...

  • When you up the resolution, the sim changes. I find that most of the time, it is not for the better. Alot of the time, i find a sim that i am completly happy with, arounf the 50 range. WHen it gets into the hundreds, shit starts looking real bad. I dont get it.

  • @fxabhi Instead of the sliders, in the attribute editor you can type the numbers. Plus you should use playblast to do rough tests, caching costs way too much time.

    But nice result! I just can't get the hang of it. All those settings 0_o
