Part 2 of a lesson on train rhythms by Adam Gussow of Satan and Adam. Warning: Gussow goes off on an extended riff about Ralph Ellison's INVISIBLE MAN towards the end of this one, and mentions pot-smoking--in a condemnatory way, of course.

  • Adam I have to say I am a Huge Fan! You explain everything so well I am grateful for al your videos. I have been practing my train chuggin for three days straight now and i think i am getting the hang of it. not quite there yet. How long did it take you to fully be able to Fox Chase or Train Chug? I hope im not doing something wrong. I feel like i should have it by now. Anyways I also plan on coming to see you tommrow here in NYC with The Robert Ross Band! Thanks Again Adam!! Your Great!

  • @MikePetroneHipHop: It takes a while to get the rhythm to click and snap. I'll see you tomorrow night at the Turning Point. Remind me that you asked about this and I'll do a Sonny Terry song, "Poor Man Blues."

  • Adam I work at colony music Every single week i make aspiring harp players aware of you and jason. mainly U. I tell them before I give them your info that they have to send you some money!!! Do they?

  • @ArtofDreaming1: Every once in a great while they do. Thanks for letting them know about me. I bought many records at Colony back in the old days and am grateful that you guys were there when I needed you. I wonder if aspiring harp players still do that: prowl the bins for old stuff

  • So acording to these, what kind of exercises could i do to take care of my breathing & my vocal chords? ill also like to know if u have seen harp players dealing with this?

  • Aw geez, man. It's hard enough being a world expert on blues harmonica. I know absolutely nothing about caring for vocal chords. The only thing I'll say is that you should politely tell you mom to stay out of your "blues business." Mothers are important, but there are certain things they have no business meddling in, and your harmonica playing is the most important one.

  • @TheQuintenV I did it by kinda making a sucking "K" sound with my tongue at the back of my throat. I know it sounds kinda wierd. I found it's like a pressure thing rather than trying to rush more air through the harp. Hope this helps. I'd also welcome any other commments on this.

  • Adam you are a machine! I'm having a lot of trouble just slightly speeding up.

  • i really have problems with bending the notes on my harmonica. (i also have a marine band from hohner).

can you maybe give some tips on it, thanks on forehand.

  • Thanks that was real cool. I'm really inspired now. I like your deviations from the 'technical' into topics of enlightenment. yes, there's more to any musical instrument then pure technical.

  • colony no longer has a decent collection of Cd"S In fact they probably will be closed with in a year no manny's no dan lynches no chicago blues only terra bluees and I am sorry I didn't know you were there at the beginning of the month

  • Great lesson! I like the comparisons you make to running!
